“BEST BIT ABOUT NEW YEAR 2009”
What’s the best bit about a new year? Yes, the celebrations count. Then there’s all the good wishes and festive feeling. But above all, there’s this feeling of a fresh start. As if a blank, crisp, pristine canvas now lies in front of you and you have all the freedom to paint it any way you like it. That by the end of the 364th day you realize the painting hasn’t exactly turned out to be a master-piece is another matter altogether! But we are talking today is beginning not endings. So at the start of the New Year, the fresh feeling permeates the air. Resolutions are set, agendas fixed and a Course charted out.
And God knows, after the sour note on which 2008 ended, LHMC Alumni Association feels and appeals to its alumni. “The New Year has arrived, wish everyone with a sankalpa for peace and prosperity for all the people. With the economic meltdown, looming terrorism, with floods and famine all around, do more selfless service. Make a resolution to do more good to society. Take responsibility for the India’s women health. All it needs is one small step from you and it’ll be a giant leap for your ‘self’ satisfaction and lot of good for the societies.
Our President Dr. Amita Rawal has a set a simple goal for herself this year. “To smile a lot more. I firmly believe that a smile works wonders. Only you have the power to keep yourself happy and must continue to feel happy, no matter what. And a smile helps.” The ‘simply smile rule is the first massage.’
“Simple steps are all we need,” says Dr. Krishna Garg our former president of LHMC Alumni Association. “Surrounding yourself with positive people always helps as their good points always helps us. In 2009, try and hang out with as many proactive people as possible.”
A mantra of Dr. Sharda Jain “Life is full of ups downs with high stress levels. The last thing one needs is negatively. In 2009, I’ll surround myself with positive life-loving people who give 100 percent to everything they do! We wish to create a movement of awakening Indian women about their health by “WOW India volunteers” (Registerd). WOW India mean well being of women of India. We plan to make 2000 volunteers and reach out, to 50,000 women about their health messages, Health’s camps, Yoga camps so no. please become volunteer of Wow India. Visit website www.wowindia.info
BYE-BYE NEGATIVITY
Well begun is half done. Of course! Now even well thought is half done! For ages, philosophers, and gurus have talked about the power of positive thinking but it’s only now that we are realizing it. Dr. Shashi Raheja has a golden rule: Everything that happens, happens for the good. “When there’s a lot of negativity around, it affects you. But I’ve learnt that the moment you stop digging up the past, a lot of the pessimism disappears,” says Dr. Shashi Raheja, speaking from her experience. There’s a chance in every adversity.”
The gospel of Lady Harding Medical College Philosophy is clear: Goodness begets goodness, Negativity brings negatively in the surroundings.
- Learn to be positive and proactive, not negative and reactive.
- Keep Company of positive people.
- Focus on what you have rather than what you don’t. Rejoice in it. Then work with joy towards what you don’t have.
- Develop new ways to enjoy. Make others happy.
- Learn to see opportunity in difficulty, not vice versa.
- Trust God who gives us problems to humble us, not tumble us.
- Always remember, “when one door closes, another opens.”
“Please write down these seven points and place them where you can see them often. Always tell your self that you “can’t create success and can’t create failures”. If you make the world happy, the world will make you happy,” I admire Dr. Shashi Raheja who has this single philosophy. Grooming Young Hardonians to become proactive and become member of LHMC Alumini Association. Dr. Tripat pal Kaur, HOD of obst. Gynae at Muscat City Hospital says this is a year of bonding. Bond with your loved ones. Invite them over for cosy dinners. Talk positive. Stay away from malicious gossip. Make fitness a priority. And, most important, learn to forgive.”
LIFE POSITIVE
Dr. Sweety Singh (Surinder Kaur), Former HOD, Physiology Department says “I plan to be more aware and awake. I’ll be awake about what’s to be done- be it helping others or cleaning my house. I won’t postpone things.” Living with awareness is what Osho emphasized always. “There are just three words that lead to happiness – live, love, laugh. Live with intensity and totality. Squeeze the juice out of every moment. Love without expectations. Your love should be unconditional. And laugh heartily and in a way that you go beyond thinking, that you achieve that your entire being is vibrating and laughing.” When you achieve that, you can welcome a life less ordinary. And a year that’s extraordinary!
