SWEET REMEMBRANCE OF ANATOMY DEPARTMENT

It is with great pride that I pen these words for my dear fellow Hardonians.

The very name of Lady Harding, our alma malor evokes fond memories of youth, glamour, tradition, honesty and hard work.

The Alumini Association Meet, every year is a visit to fairy land, where every Hardonians, young and not so young, drowns in an ecstasy of joy, dancing to the tunes of slow and fast numbers while saluting the legend of Lady Hardings, whose salute has stood magnificently at the entrance for all these years and will continue to stand for many more inspiring generations. It gives me immense pleasure to see the fast changing face of Lady Harding Medical college and the tremendous progress it has made over the last five decades. From an undergraduate medical college meant for twenty students, it has grown to become a post graduate college of national repute figuring in best ten medical colleges in India. Many Hardonians have made us proud by holding prestigious positions in well known medical Institutions. Some have been honored by the award of Padamshri and Padma Vibhushan.

We appreciate the commendable efforts put in by various presidents of Alumni Association and their teams, who have maintained the tradition of holding the annual meet every year and have also added many  activities like offering scholarships to needy students and  recognizing meritorious honouriar   students. We congratulate them and offer them our sincere thanks.

We  wish all Hardonians the very best in life and pray that the almighty may always shower his grace on our Alma mater.  We  bring back the update of old teachers of  Anatomy department of LHMC in late sixties.

Dr. Krishna Garg, I entered this great institution in 1956 and had to prefer LHMC to newly started AIIMS. Since Anatomy was my favourite subject, Anatomy Department took me where I served for 32 years.Since students were from many states we got to know their diverse culture. Our classmate Dr. Sheela Ganju took three of us to Srinagar in 1958 and showed us  the Place. We are so obliged to her and her family for this kind act.

Dr. Krishna Garg

We learnt lots of traditions and values in this institution. Who can forget the STAFF PARTY TO THE STUDENTS which brought staff and students very close to each other. The seniors in our Department were strict as far as work was concerned but were very kind and compassionate otherwise. With guidance from Dr.Mohini Kaul, Dr. Indira Bahl and Dr. Chandrama Anand  we could publish Text Book of Histology, Text Book of Neuroanatomy and Basics of Human Embryology. Last but not the least an opportunity was provided to me to edit the three volumes of B.D.Chaurasia's Human Anatomy which got published in 2004. With education from LHMC my hands are full with books to write and edit.
I am extremely grateful to Almighty for giving me an opportunity to study and serve in LHMC.

Whole staff of anatomy department took keen interest in the activities of the institution, including the popular “staff party to the students” . Many students were helped and counseled by the staff. In good old days, anatomy department was best staffed department of the institution who worked for the welfare of the students.  It is this department who made lasting contacts with students and still are in touch. It is this  staff, who still  remembers old hardonian by their maiden names and makes  you feet at  home when hardonians  came back after 25 years for silver jubilee function.
